PAGE THREE EGYPTIAN TEMPLES

The tip of the obelisks were covered in gold and had hieroglyphics on all four sides. This obelisk was erected by Hatshepsut at the temple in Karnak. The precious metals and woods from these temples were robbed by the priest during bad times such as the Year Of The Heynia about 1070 B.C.

This picture shows the entrance to a small building, containing a room which houses the statue of the main god of the temple. This is the heart of any Egyptian worship temple.

Inside the building the walls were covered in hieroglyphics. This is a calendar, the year was separated into three seasons based on the flood cycle of the Nile river.

This is a model of the boats that were used to transport the mummies down the river to the place of burial. This model was made to be used in the afterlife.

This is the room that is the most sacred part of the temple. On this alter sacrifices were made and gifts were presented to the god. The nitch is where the god's statue stood. Only the pharoah and high priest could worship here.
