ENTERING THE CASTLE'S KEEP

The keep at Lichtenberg was 90ft. high. The entrance to the keep was 16ft. above the castle courtyard. The keep was the great storehouse and last bastion of defense in a fortress.

Stairs link the many floors in the keep.

The keep had a few windows, but was rather dark inside.

The dark and the mixed smells from all the items stored inside the keep must have made it a rather unpleasant place to be in.
